Why have your dryer vent cleaned?
A clothes dryer can catch fire. The January 2007 report by the U.S. Fire Administration noted that over 12,000 dryer fires occur every year with over 80 millions dollars worth of property loss, 15 deaths and 300 injuries reported. A clogged dryer vent adds to this risk.

| How do I know my dryer vent needs to be cleaned?
How often should the dryer vent be cleaned?
Well, it all depends on several factors such as the number of monthly loads, the kind of laundry washed (diapers, towels and other high lint producing items). Other factors would be the length of the vent and the number of elbows in vent run. Dryer manufacturers recommend the dryer vent be cleaned annually. My dryer vent did not need to be cleaned for over 10 years, why does it need to be done annually now?
When a dryer vent pipe is first installed, the insides are new and slick. Over time, the inside of the vent pipe becomes corroded with the moisture from the venting. The inside of the pipe remains corroded which allows the lint to collect more quickly which results in the dryer vent needing to be cleaned more regularly.
